Antique British Anointing Spoon
Excellent, vintage condition
800 silver
This form is based on the form of the "British Anointing Spoon" which is a famous spoon in England used to anoint kings since the 12th century.  The hallmark on this spoon is the "bundle of sticks" also known as the "fasces" which was the national mark of Italy under Fascist Rule (Mussolini).  This hallmark was only used for a very short period of time (1934-1937).  Sometime you will find this hallmark scratched out on pieces of sterling silver because this symbol was outlawed in the post-war era.
There is a hallmark on the edge of the handle.
